Global Day of Prayer, May 15 – Just as America has the National Day of Prayer, several years ago Christians in Africa started a global day of prayer.  Nations all over the world are now participating.  This is the first year that there has been an attempt to have the United States participate.  As part of the Global Day of Prayer, they ask that churches pray for 10 days before the actual Global Day of Prayer.  That would mean the United States would have the National Day of Prayer, and the next day would begin to pray for the Global Day of Prayer that will happen 10 days later.  Learn more at http://www.globaldayofprayer.com/.  To discuss what may happen here in Maryland, contact the Mission America Regional Associate, Judy Kesselman, at (410) 515-4336 or by email at JudahLion777@comcast.net.

Mother’s Day

Dear all,

On Mothers Day weekend, Saturday and Sunday May 7th and 8th, the St. Joseph Prolife Committee will be selling carnations after all the masses. The proceeds will go to  Pregnancy Center North and to our Gabriel Project.

We need  at least 6 volunteers at each mass to man the tables outside church. We will need you for about 15 minutes. This is a great thing to do as a family, and teens and kids can help us collect the money, and wrap and hand out the flowers!

Call or email me if you can help!

                                                                       Thank You!

                                                         Cookie Harris 410-666-9411

Also if anyone is interested in working at the Pregnancy Center as a volunteer, we need counselors and receptionists. Training will be provided. You can work a few hours a month or more often if you can! Let me know if you are interested or you have any questions!

Vitae Caring Foundation

Save the Date.

Vitae Caring Foundation is offering a Benefit Dinner to help fund the terrific pro-life TV ads that started airing last month in Baltimore.

The event will be held at Hillendale Country Club on Thursday, May 19, with a reception beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Cardinal Keeler will give the invocation.  Jennifer O'Neill is the featured speaker and there will be a presentation about the ads.  The evening is free.  At the end of the evening an opportunity to contribute to this campaign will be offered.

These ads have changed minds and hearts all over the country.  If anyone has wondered why there are so many prolifers from Missouri at the March for Life, Vitae has been showing ads there for 10 years.  In 1991 St. Louis residents, in response to the statement: "A woman is responsible only to herself, not society nor the unborn child, in making the decision to have an abortion", 41% agreed.  After running ads, in 2001 29% agreed.  Those who disagreed in 1991 were 54%, and that increased to 72% in 2001.

The ads are effective and reach those who would not normally be exposed to the pro-life message.  Please consider helping to keep these ads in Maryland by coming to the dinner and making a donation.

An invitation will be sent by email next week.  If you would like to attend, please call or email me (or the 800 # on the flier) so your name can be added to the guest list.

Thank you for prayerfully considering support of this effort.

Mark 8:36

For what shall it profit a man,

if he shall gain the whole world,

and lose his own soul?

Matthew 7:21

"Not everyone who says to me,

'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven,

but only he who does the will of my Father..."

Matthew 25:42-45

42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat,

I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink,

43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in,

I needed clothes and you did not clothe me,

I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44“They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry

or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45“He will reply, ‘I tell you the truth,

whatever you did not do for one of the least of these,

you did not do for me.’
